  • Amer Fort & Stepwell

One of the top tourist attractions of Jaipur's impressive Amer Fort is situated atop a small hill approximately 11 km from the city center. This vast palace complex, constructed from pale yellow and pink sandstone along with white marble, is divided into four main sections, each featuring its own courtyard.

Visitors typically enter the fort through Suraj Pol, except those arriving by car who use Chand Pol; both gates lead into Jaleb Chowk, the main courtyard where returning armies once displayed their spoils.

The fort houses several notable areas, including the King’s quarters, the zenana (the women’s living quarters), gardens, and temples. Highlights include the Diwan-e-Aam, various mandirs, and the ornate Sheesh Mahal. Amer Fort also contains underground tunnels connecting it to Jaigarh Fort, some of which have been restored and are accessible to the public.

Representing quintessential Rajasthani architecture, Amer Fort is a must-visit. Its essence is vividly brought to life by the captivating light and sound show that narrates the fort’s rich history.
