Over 295 million people across 53 countries face high levels of accute food insecurtity according to UNICEF, millions more face severe food poverty. For children, food crises mean limited diets lacking the nutrition required for healthy growth and development. The result: malnutrition. 

Undernutrition is linked to nearly half of all deaths of children under age 5

Some 148 million children in the world — about 1 in 5 — are chronically malnourished to some degree. When not addressed, malnutrition puts children at greater risk of dying from common infections, increases the frequency and severity of such infections and delays recovery. When a child suffers from malnutrition, the damage can be irreversible — robbing them of the opportunity to reach their full mental and physical potential.

PROGRAM 3: Support Aboriginal Women's Stolen Generation Healing

Between 1910 and the 1970s, it is estimated that up to one in three Indigenous children were forcibly taken from their families, deeply impacting nearly all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia. These children were removed under racially motivated policies enforced by both State and Federal Governments. Many were placed in institutions, adopted, or fostered by non-Indigenous families. PROGRAM 2: The Learning for Life Sponsorship Program

The Learning for Life sponsorship program acknowledges that children facing disadvantage require additional support to remain in school and pursue further education or employment. When a student receives sponsorship, they not only receive financial aid for school necessities but their family is also connected with a Learning for Life Coordinator. They provide encouragement and assistance with the student’s education, connects families to local learning and mentoring programs Read more…

PROGRAM 1: Make a Wish for sick Children

Make-A-Wish volunteers visit each child to capture their greatest wish, getting to the heart of what kids truly want and why. PROGRAM 5: Women’s Nepalise Learning to Fly Program

The Learn to Fly initiative was established with the aim of supporting Indian daughters who have grown up in the Women’s Foundation Nepal shelter home. When these young women reach the age of 18, government regulations require them to leave the shelter. With no known relatives or connections beyond the WFN family, limited work experience, and little knowledge of navigating society’s day-to-day challenges, they face a daunting transition. Read more…

PROGRAM 6: Basket Weaving in Burundi

It has faced more than a decade of civil war leaving the country ravaged by recurring waves of violence and instability.
