The program runs in many areas of the world, here are just a few:

  1. Pacific Region is home to around 1.7 million children under the age of five, spread across thousands of islands and millions of square kilometres of ocean. Here, formal early learning like preschool is limited for many girls. Many miss out due to cost, where they live and even what language they speak

  2. Timor-Leste - If you’re a girl born in Timor-Leste, compared to anywhere else in the world, then it’s more likely that you’ll fail to hit key growth and development milestones. This means many girls in Timor-Leste miss out on the start in life they deserve

  3. Papua New Guinea - When it comes to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), girls living in rural areas of Papua New Guinea are greatly disadvantaged compared to those who live in cities

  4. Somalia - Somalian girls from FGM and gender-based violence. When it comes to gender equality, Somalia ranks fourth last in the world. Child marriage accounts for one part of the challenge, where 45% of girls are married before the age of 18

  5. Solomon Islands - Gender inequality is still deeply entrenched in the Solomon Islands – including violence against women and girls. But the fallout of this inequality goes far beyond the boundaries of home

  6. Uganda - Refugee girls from violence and child marriage in Uganda. Uganda is currently host to over 1.7 million refugees. This number is rapidly going up due to the nation’s open-door policy for refugees

  7. Zimbabwe - Parents in Zimbabwe are struggling to provide for their daughters. Severe drought in recent years has dried up the nation’s food production, causing prices to sky-rocket

  8. South Sudan - South Sudan is in the grip of a catastrophic hunger crisis and is the poorest country in the world. Also, the youngest country in the world, much of its 13-year existence has been fraught with conflict and violence.
